Alan Cohen is head of Global Compliance for Goldman Sachs. He serves as a vice chair of the Business Practices Committee and an ex-officio member of the Management Committee. He joined Goldman Sachs as a partner in 2004.
Prior to joining the firm, Cohen worked as a partner at O'Melveny & Myers, where he co-headed the White Collar and Regulatory Defense Practice and the New York Litigation Group. Prior to this, for nine years he was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, where his last assignment was as the chief of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force.
Cohen earned a BA in 1972 from Temple University, as well as a Ph.D. and a JD, with highest honors, from Rutgers University in 1976 and 1979, respectively. He serves on the Board of Directors for the New York Stem Cell Foundation.
