New York City’s Supporting Transitions from
Early-education to Public School (STEPS).
STEPS seeks to ensure that a child’s learning and developmental needs are continuously met during the first eight years of life, especially during the critical transition from pre-school to elementary school. STEPS helps educators, administrators and families in underserved neighborhoods better support children’s social, emotional and intellectual growth through developmentally appropriate practices that foster lifelong learning.
