A New Big-Apple Voice for Women United

Congratulations to Valerie White, one of our Women’s Leadership Council’s incredible executive committee members. United Way’s Women United Global Leadership Council (WUGLC) recently appointed White their new Big Apple representative!

Led by our global headquarters United Way Worldwide, the WUGLC is a national committee of powerful women passionate about philanthropy. This advisory group provides strategic counsel to United Way that helps nurture the impact of local United Ways’ women’s leadership groups while empowering new groups to form.

When she’s not championing the power of women leaders, White is the Vice President, External Affairs at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation. Prior to this role, she was a managing director and lead analytical manager of the public finance housing and municipal structured securities business at Standard and Poor’s ratings. Beyond our Women’s Leadership Council, White serves on the board of Inroads New York/New Jersey Region, as well as the board of trustees for the Brooklyn Arts Council, the Chair’s Advisory Council for BRIC, and the advisory board for Eyebeam in Brooklyn.

This Brooklynite also holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a law degree from Fordham University, as well as a master’s degree and certificate in Organization Development from The New School.
